This embedded antenna, ALX17M-092XX1-00, is a PIFA antenna with high efficiency and quick integration for 5GHz frequency band, working on Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac standard applications. It has a peak gain of 3.8dBi at 5GHz, designed in a metal with IPEX connector and 160mm RF-1.37 low loss cable, which is used to keep efficiency high over long cable lengths, for easy installation.
A PIFA antenna is compact and small in size comparing to a monopole antenna. Bandwidth of the PIFA antennas can be adjusted by varying the size of GND plane. For a given frequency, a PIFA has a length about one-quarter wavelength and is roughly half the size of a dipole.
