Due to the problem of “signal attenuation and timing”, each version of Ethernet has restrictions on the maximum length of different cables. To overcome this, repeaters or signal amplifiers are used to adjust and amplify signals, extending network range. These devices are also common in wireless networks. For areas with weak signals or large spaces, installing a repeater antenna, such as a dual-band ICS or Wi-Fi repeater, can significantly improve signal strength and coverage.
In the evolution of Ethernet networks, the bridge was initially used to connect traditional Ethernet systems, segmenting networks to reduce collisions and increase bandwidth. Later, multiport bridges evolved into switches, which are now often considered equivalent. In wireless networks, a Wi-Fi bridge antenna plays a similar role by enhancing connectivity, extending coverage, and improving signal strength in larger areas.
A network adapter, also known as a network interface card (NIC) or LAN adapter, enables computers to communicate over a network using a unique MAC address. It can connect either via cable or wirelessly. For better performance, a network adapter antenna enhances signal strength and extends coverage. Each network adapter is assigned a unique MAC address by the IEEE to ensure no two devices have the same address.
The network card used to be plugged into the computer bus as an expansion card, but due to its low price and widespread Ethernet standards, most new computers have integrated network interfaces on the motherboard. Unless multiple interfaces are required, a separate network card is no longer needed. Even newer motherboards may have a built-in dual network (Ethernet) interface.
